I've started to follow the guides descrived in the book "Framework Design Guidelines" by Cwalina and Abrams. It's a fantastic book I highly recommed to everybody. It's more focused to writing API and frameworks (as the .NET) but it also contains a very nice explanations of coding convetions (naming of classes, methods, variables, ...).
